Alia Bhatt: I Kept Gangubai Alive Within Me For 2 Years
Alia Bhatt's Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, Gangubai Kathiawadi is abuzz for all the right reasons. Alia's one of the highly anticipated movie took two years to finally make it to the big screen. The first clap was clapped on 8th of December 2019 and the final shot was captured on 27th of June 2021. The shooting of Gangubai was stalled multiple times going through two lockdowns, two cyclones and the director and actor contracting covid during the making.

In our conversation with her, Alia expressed that Gangubai is still a part of her and it will leave only once the film is released. She says, "I had to shoot for Kathiawadi for 2 years, So I had to hold the character quite close to me for quite sometime. Even sitting at home during covid, Gangu was there, then I had to go for the shoot again after 6 months so I had to keep the character alive within me. Honestly, I don't think it kind of left. It did not, as after completing the shoot I had to dub for couple of months and now the film is releasing. Once the film releases is when you let the character go."

Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Dr. Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios), the film is all set to release theatrically on 25th February, 2022.
