A.R. Rahman Joins Hansal Mehta's 'Gandhi' as Composer, Produced by Applause Entertainment

In a landmark announcement on Gandhi Jayanti, Applause Entertainment, one of India’s foremost content studios, revealed that legendary composer and Grammy Award-winner A.R. Rahman will create the music for their highly anticipated series Gandhi. Rahman, known for his exceptional talent and musical genius, is set to elevate this historical series, bringing his signature emotional depth and artistry to the project.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta and based on Ramachandra Guha’s authoritative writings on Mahatma Gandhi, the series aims to capture the complexities of India's journey to independence. Rahman’s music will complement the visual narrative by embodying the spirit of Gandhi’s philosophies, truth, love, and non-violence, adding a powerful dimension to the storytelling.

A.R. Rahman reflected on the project, stating, “Watching Gandhiji’s younger life is a revelation, his experiments with truth, life, and so many other things show the evolution of his character. I am deeply honored to be scoring the music for this story, in collaboration with Applause Entertainment and under the articulate direction of Hansal Mehta.”
