Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Trailer- An Honest Reaction

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Trailer- An Honest Reaction
It won't be fair to dismiss Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 based on the trailer, so many movies in the past right from Tamasha to Baadhai Do had great storylines but lacked a good trailer. However, it cannot be denied the trailer was underwhelming. Here is a discussion of both the good and bad aspects of the trailer.

The trailer opens with the iconic Ami Je Tomar crooned by Shreya Ghoshal instantly dialing back our nostalgia for the first film. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 can bank on this factor as even today it doesn't fail to bring shivers down our spine. It's eerie and mysterious.

Tabu then goes on to explain the one-liner conflict of the movie which is fine, but the god-awful sound effects downplay the scene. In a flash it goes from horror to comedy, introducing Kartik Aaryan in the role of Rooh Baba who can see the dead. Montages of him and Kiara Advani's character play. His character appears to deceive people by using ghosts as a tool, something which Bollywood has done countless times. The most recent example will be Saif Ali Khan starrer Bhoot Police.

A shot of Kiara Advani's character passes in a blink. Her photo frame is covered in garlands indicating her death. It's unclear if this was a mistake or internally done. Later on, Rooh Baba even discovers she is Manjulika. He even pushes her down the terrace and interacts with her about fleeing this place. It's evident the sequence of this will be different in the movie, a double role, getting possessed or even Tabu being part of this plan; deceiving Rooh baba is on cards. Although these are only a shot in the dark, mere guesses could be different in the Film.

There is a particular scene from Bhool Bhulaiyaa recreated, when Akshay Kumar's character playfully chases Radha's (Amisha Patel) mother, this is recreated by Tabu and Kartik Aaryan. The cinematography is great, and the last bit of Arijit Singh singing Ami Je Tomar is effective.

However the trailer looks average at best, it doesn't hold the mystery nor caters to the humor. It appears to be the same product in a different bottle, Kartik Aaryan isn't half as bad as people have deemed him to be for this role. But it can't be denied that Akshay Kumar in a Priyadarshan is what Govinda was for David Dhawan movies in the 80s and 90s.

Director Anees Bazmee might have done a good job, but the absence of Priyadarshan is loud and clear. Vidya Balan as Avni/Manjulika scares the bravest hearts even today, it wasn't the VFX or any jump scares. It was Vidya Balan's powerful acting chops that made Manjulika an epitome of wraith for the longest time. This one misses that by a mile.

The performances aren't bad, It has a very talented cast. Rajpal Yadav, Kiara Advani, Tabu, and Kartik Aaryan might weave their own magic. Appearances are often misleading so perhaps even after a below-the-par trailer, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2's real plot twist will be an actual good movie doing justice to the hype. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, and Krishan Kumar under the banner of T-Series and Cine 1 Studios, is scheduled to hit the screens on 20th MAY 2022.
