Gulshan Devaiah Takes Inspiration From WWE Wrestling Legends Like Undertaker And Ric Flair For Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota!
Gulshan Devaiah is bringing back an old tradition of professional wrestling world to life for his next. A “heel” character is what inspired and became one of the foundations for portrayal of Jimmy his character that  Gulshan portrays in his next, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. Directed by Vasan Bala, the fill has Gulshan play the role of a karate expert. For the film’s preparation Gulshan went a bit back to the 90s where the craze of professional wrestling was at its peak for audiences who would love to watch their favourite wrestlers on WWE.
One of the players was Rick Flair who Gulshan loved watching while growing up. Rick was a “heel” player which in wrestling world is a player who is an antagonist in front of the audience who wouldn’t play by rules and would do unethical things to win a match. This practice leads a “heel” player to eventually become the good guy which too was a character graph that Gulshan followed for himself on screen.

Speaking about it, Gulshan said, “I’ve been a fan of pro wrestling since my uncle used to bring home VHS tapes and in the early 90s it was made available in cable. Every now and then I draw some inspiration from that . Jimmy in Mard ko Dard nahi hota is what I would say a typical heel ( bad guy) in pro wrestling. He is lout , over the top , can trash talk , speaks catch phrases. Jimmy is a bad guy but he is funny and entertaining, at least that’s how he was written by Vasan. Many great pro wrestlers like The Rock , John Cena, The undertaker, Eddie Guerrero, Ric Flair started out being heels (bad guys) and transitioned to become Faces ( good guys). My version of Jimmy is me paying homage to pro wrestling. Ric Flair and Eddie Guerrero in particular.”
