Ranveer Singh Starts Prepping Up For The Kapil Dev Biopic And We Are Super Excited!
Ranveer Singh has made us sway with his rowdy cop avatar in Simmba and his phenomenal rapping skills in Gully Boy and now the actor is going to redefine his versatility by slipping into the role of the former Team India captain Kapil Dev. He started prepping for the role in a cricket field with director Kabir Khan and also shared a picture which he captioned saying,
Ranveer can be seen donning a cap with the cricket pads and a bat making super pumped up for the film.

Kapil Dev was the captain of the Indian Cricket Team when they won the 1983 World Cup which was a historic moment for our nation. He was also the coach of the team between the year 1999 and 2000. He is the inspiration for many budding sportsmen even now.

We are truly excited about the film. There were rumors about Deepika Padukone playing Kapil Dev's wife Romi but according to sources, she has declined the offer. According to a source by a leading publication, ''83 is a boys’ films. The focus is on Kapil Dev and his team bringing home the World Cup. Ranveer plays Kapil Dev. While Deepika playing his wife Romi sounds tempting, it’s just not true. Kapil Dev’s wife’s role will be very limited in this film and Deepika is a huge brand. She wouldn’t do any film just because her husband is in it.'
