Shahid Kapoor Speaks About The Difference Between Kabir Singh And Tommy Singh From Udta Punjab, Read On To Know More!
Ever since the trailer of the Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh came out, fans noticed an uncanny resemblance between the character to Shahid's character from Udta Punjab, Tommy Singh. Given that both the characters are raw and suffer from alcoholism, fans started comparing the two characters but Shahid Kapoor in a recent interview clarified that there is a vast difference between the two characters. 

Shahid revealed in an interview saying, ' Kabir Singh’s reasons to do things aren’t selfish... While Tommy Singh is an empty guy, who’s self-obsessed. He only thinks about himself and later realises that he needs to do something for someone else. Kabir is the opposite. He loves so purely that he actually destroys himself in that emotion and becomes self-destructive.' He also stated that unlike Udta Punjab which was a dark and serious film, Kabir Singh is a romantic film.
He further added, 'As a subject in totality, it’s a happy film. It's a romantic film and it has its dark parts. Obviously, what will attract you in the promos are these edgy scenes but the film has a lot more going for it.'

The film is a remake of the hit Telugu film Arjun Reddy which starred Vijay Deverakonda in a pivotal role. Shahid Kapoor will be seen opposite Kiara Advani in the film. The film will be releasing on June 21st, 2019.
