Producer Siddharth Roy Kapur was among the prominent figures who took the stage at the WAVES Summit 2025, a landmark event hosted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to spotlight the evolving landscape of Indian and global entertainment.

A key highlight of the summit was a dynamic panel discussion on “Storytelling in a Digital-First World.” The panel brought together industry heavyweights including Tanya Bami (Series Head, Netflix India), Guneet Monga Kapoor (Producer, Sikhya Entertainment), Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh (Director, Original Films, Netflix India), Michael Lehmann (international director and producer), Supriya Yarlagadda (CEO & Executive Director, Annapurna Studios), and Siddharth Roy Kapur (Founder, Roy Kapur Films).

The panelists engaged in a vibrant exchange on how streaming platforms have revolutionized storytelling, breaking traditional molds and encouraging experimentation across genres and narratives. There was a strong focus on the rise of local stories resonating with global audiences, a shift that has opened up new opportunities for creators.

Reflecting on the broader significance of the summit, Roy Kapur said,
"I think it’s really wonderful that the government has thought of doing this because it’s so important for the entertainment industry to have a platform like this; to showcase what we’re capable of. Like the Prime Minister said yesterday, the idea is for entertainment to contribute much more than we already have to the GDP of our country, and we’re hoping that WAVES gives us that platform. I think it’s a wonderful initiative, and I’m hoping that from this year onward, we build on it year after year."

His remarks resonated deeply with the audience, underlining the dual role of entertainment as both a cultural force and a powerful economic engine. As the WAVES platform gains momentum, there’s a growing sense of optimism that India’s entertainment industry is ready to scale new heights globally.
