Yami Gautam Spills The Bean On The Controversial “Facts And Figures” Dialogue From Batti Gul Meter Chalu!

The trailer and songs of the upcoming Shree Narayan Singh directorial Batti Gul Meter Chalu has been garnering a lot of appreciation but there is a dialogue between Shahid Kapoor’s and Yami Gautam’s character where the latter teases her on her ‘figure’ which has faced a backlash from many feminist groups and has been termed as misogynistic.

When we asked Yami Gautam to speak on this issue, the actress finally broke her silence and said that, "We are not trying to glorify any eve teasing here. It is just that my character is a very educated girl and Shahid’s character is from one of those really local law colleges. I am not defending it but it is just a tongue and cheek humor. If you literally go into the literal meaning, there can be many dissections."

The actress further quoted that, "We are not promoting any eve teasing or lewd comments against women. Shahid’s character is just trying to irritate me. He knows he’s facing somebody who is very well educated and has the upper hand over him so he is just trying to irritate her."

Yami plays a lawyer who locks horns with Shahid Kapoor’s character on the final courtroom scene. Batti Gul Meter Chalu revolves around the aftermath of the rising electricity bills in the rural areas and is all set to release on September 21st.
