Deepika Padukone celebrates her 33rd birthday today. This indisputable queen of Bollywood reigned high in the year 2018. From starring as Rani Padmaavati in Padmaavat amidst all controversies to opening up about battling depression or getting featured on the Forbes 100 list to finally entering marital bliss with beau Ranveer Singh, 2018 has truly been magical for this lovely damsel.  

Bollywood was blessed with Deepika Padukone when she did her debut with the film Om Shanti Om (2007). Since then it has been a roller-coaster ride of a journey for the actress. With a string of unsuccessful films after her debut, it was not until the film Love Aaj Kal (2009) that she proved that she was much more than a leggy lass. But it was the film Cocktail (2012) which proved her to be the reigning queen of the box office too and since the it was no looking back for her. 1- Om Shanti Om(2007)
She immediately captured attention being a debutante in this film opposite Shah Rukh Khan, playing a yesteryear actress Shanti Priya. Since then, there was no looking back for the actress.

2- Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008)
She played a cheerful girl next door character Gayatri who was a love interest to Ranbir Kapoor who she was also dating during the shoot of the film. Even though the film did not do well, Deepika was surely recognized of her craft.

3- Chandni Chowk To China (2009)
The film was a huge disaster which was quite disheartening as the actress tried hard to prove her niche playing a double role in the film. But her hard work was sincerely noticed. 

4- Love Aaj Kal (2009)
This was a strong turning point in her career as Deepika achieved huge acclaim for her portrayal of the strong and opinionated Meera who was a combination of strength and innocence. 

5-Lafangey Parindey (2010)
The film was not a success but Deepika's performance as a blind dancer in this one forced us to sit back and notice.

6- Cocktail (2012)
The film revolutionized Deepika as a performer par extraordinaire and also as a commercial actress. Her portrayal of the bold and frivolous Veronica still makes our heart flutter.   

7- Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013)
Just admit it! Who did not fall in love with the adorable chashmish Naina and her innocent and suppressed love for Bunny in the film. This one still remains one of her most memorable works.

8- Ram-Leela (2013)
This one inevitably brought Deepika to the top of her game when she portrayed the fiery Leela and not to forget, it is during this film that she fell in love with her now husband Ranveer Singh.

9- Chennai Express (2013)
Well the year 2013 was simply a life changing year for Deepika as she went on to star in this comedy opposite Shah Rukh Khan and many fans still believed that she stole some shine ( especially in that thangaballi scene) from Shah Rukh Khan as the amiable Meenama. 

10- Race 2 (2013)
The second Race franchise, Deepika starred in this Abbas Mustan thriller and enthralled us with her performance and smoking hot avatar. Even in an ensemble cast like this one, she managed to leave her mark.

11- Piku (2015)
She played a dutiful daughter Piku to her on screen father Amitabh Bachchan (Big B) so effortlessly that this earned her the Best Actress Award for the year. Not to forget, her chemistry with Irrfan Khan was too endearing to miss.

12- Tamasha (2015)
This Imtiaz Ali directorial had Deepika star with Ranbir Kapor and the duo stunned us with their chemistry in this one. Even though, it did not set the cash registers ringing but the performances of Ranbir and Deepika were much appreciated. 

13- Bajirao Mastani (2015)
She played the beautiful but courageous Mastani, the second wife to Peshwa Bajirao. She was a visual delight in this one and her chemistry with beau Ranveer Singh is still reflected in the soulful tracks of the film. 

14- Padmaavat (2018)
Amidst a nasty controversy, Deepika played the brave queen Padmaavati of Chittor who committed jauhar after her husband's death to protect her honour from the menacing Allauddin Khilji. This proved to be another milestone last year in the actress' career. 

On a concluding note, this year has truly been a roller coaster ride for the actress. Amidst much criticism, she starred in the film Padmaavat , she stunned us at the Cannes red carpet wearing a Zuhair Murad gown, she made it to the top five of the Forbes India Celebrity 100 List and the year ended with her tying the knot with beau Ranveer Singh. The actress will soon be seen in the Meghna Gulzar directorial Chhappak opposite Vikrant Massey and will be seen playing Laxmi Aggarwal, a real life acid attack survivor.
