She entered the most beautiful phase of her life by tying the knot with Ranveer Singh. The beginning of the year saw her essaying the character of Rani Padmaavati in the film Padmaavat. Even though the film finally released on January 25th, Deepika was again criticized for the Jauhar scene in the film. The film had Rani Padmaavati commiting jauhar by submitting herself to the fire after her husband dies. But amidst all the controversy, she was appreciated because of her performance.
