Posted on 27 Jan, 2018
Viacom18 Motion Pictures & Bhansali Productions’ Padmaavat - the most eagerly awaited film of the year got released on 25th January 2018. As the entire nation celebrates this masterpiece on the big screen, the producers are taking adequate measures to ensure that the film is not being recorded and distributed illegally across social and digital platforms. The producers are urging viewers and fans of the film to show their solidarity for the film which has faced enough challenges and to not watch film on illegal platform or through unauthorised means but only across theaters and multiplexes to enjoy this master piece.
Viacom18 has also sought John Doe order from Madras High Court against any person or entity infringing the said film and directing all concerned to immediately block illegal websites/URL’s hosting content related to the film. This would thereby restrain all unauthorized copying, transmission, communication, display, release, upload, download or exhibit of the film or part thereof in any manner.

Online content theft continues to negatively impact the growth of the film and television industries to the point where decisive government support and action has become essential. Viacom18 has also filed a complaint with cybercrime of Maharashtra unit for necessary action against the person who have committed the offence of copyright infringement. In their Complaint, Viacom18 has requested cyber police to take immediate action against all concerned involved in the offence of copyright infringement of the film in any manner. Maharashtra Cyber Crime unit has assured us of the swift action and we are thankful to them for their support against piracy. The producers plan to file similar complaint against the piracy with cyber police in other states as well.
