Paresh Rawal Just Had This Bold Revelation To Naseeruddin Shah's Controversial Amnesty Video!
Paresh Rawal plays the former Indian intelligence and law enforcement officer Ajit Kumar Doval who was the brainchild behind the September 2016 surgical strikes in Pakistan in the upcoming film, Uri: The Surgical Strike.

In an explosive interview with us, the prolific actor got candid with us and offered his views in the controversial Naseeruddin Shah's amnesty video wherein he describes the country in an unsafe phase when it comes to freedom of expression. When we asked Paresh Rawal whether he agrees with Naseeruddin Shah's statement, here is what he said. He said, "I do not agree with this statement at all. It is because the government about which he is talking about is the Modi government. The same Narendra Modi has ruled Gujarat for 14 years. He was the Chief Minister then and at that time, the media did not leave any stone unturned to hurl abuses at Modiji either from front page or the back page (of the newspapers)."
He further added, "For 14 years everyday relentlessly abuses were hurled at him (PM Narendra Modi). Infact, we learnt some new slangs from reading the newspaper (laughs). Inspite of that, Modiji never stopped or trespassed any reporter. He has never threatened to close down any publication or did not even close down any of their advertisements which is also their main revenue. In fact, he used to say that if by abusing me, they get their daily bread, then I'm more than happy. He has never criticized anyone there. There has never been a curfew or riots in Gujarat when he was the CM. So how can people say that they feel unsafe in this country."

On a concluding note, he said, "There were enquiries held due to the mishaps which happened in Amnesty but there was no enquiry held because of the Modi government prohibiting anything. And the fact that he (Nasseruddin Shah) could say this itself proves that there is freedom of speech in the country. Nobody has reacted violently on this statement only proves that scenario is not at all unsafe here."

The film Uri also stars Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles. It is all set to be released on January 11th, 2019.
