Akshay Kumar Gives Up The Padman Release Date For Sanjay Leela Bhansali!
Posted on 19 Jan, 2018
In Padmaavat versus PadMan, one film has blinked. Akshay Kumar's PadMan, the film originally booked for the Republic Day weekend, has backed away from the box office clash that was unexpectedly sprung on it after Padmaavat was cleared for release. PadMan, co-starring Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte, will now release on February 9 and not January 25, the makers of the film announced.
Since Padmaavat has already faced its share of controversies, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali doesn’t want the film to suffer more at the box-office. A source told us that Bhansali met Akshay and had a long chat with the actor. Keeping in mind all the difficulties that came in Padmaavat’s way, SLB has requested Akshay to push the release date of PadMan.
Rumours of the 'PadMan' makers postponing their release were doing the rounds online, however, Akshay Kumar confirmed on Friday evening with releasing an official statement announcing their new release date. With 'PadMan' being the second Hindi film , after ' Aiyaary ', to bow out of a battle with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali magnum opus, it only means that the fictional periodic drama will enjoy a solo release over the long holiday weekend.
Akshay Kumar's 'PadMan' will now share the box-office with Sidharth Malhotra's 'Aiyaary' when it hits theatres on February 9. 'Padmaavat' on the other hand is scheduled to release on 25 January, with paid previews organised for 24 January.
