Arjun Patiala Review: This One Fails To Evoke A Laughter With The Loose Narrative And The Jagged Screenplay!
Starring: Diljit Dosanjh, Kriti Sanon, Varun Sharma
Directed By:
2/5 Stars

The film opens on the town of Ferozepur, in Punjab. Enter police inspector Arjun Patiala (Diljit Dosanjh) whose life revolves in his work and his love for whiskeys and women. His constant aide is fellow constable Onnida Singh whose life is synonymous with many heartbreaks when it comes to love. But here's what interesting, he settles for a buffalo as a partner. The torturous ordeal of the narrative does not end here. Also enter, Ritu Randhawa (Kriti Sanon) a fiery reporter who is hellbent on exposing the corrupted thugs in Ferozepur. One of them is the notorious MLA Prapti Makkad (Seema Pahwa) who is known for her unscrupulous dealings in the real estate. Also there is IPS Gill (Ronit Roy) who is only the actual sane cop in the whole scenario and a free spirited thug Sakool (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub). The narrative takes place in the form of a narration which takes place by the supposed writer of a masala film. This further proves to be a major low point of the film.

But the first half of the film does have some light moments along with a cameo of Sunny Leone. Her 'mandatory' item number, however is just a hit and miss. Diljit Dosanjh does a fair attempt to deliver his fair share of comic timing. His free spirited demeanor adds to his perfomance. But the same cannot be said about Kriti Sanon who looked pretty but that's just all in her character. The shabby writing does not give any scope for her character to evolve. Varun Sharma however adds some funny moments in the scenario. His backstory manages to evoke some laughter in the film. He also gets some of the best punchlines from the film.

The screenplay, writing and the execution is hopelessly shabby and dragged which fails to strike a chord. The humor is innocent but the narrative is extremely weak and fails to tickle your funny bone. The music too fails to keep you engaged. It would be better to skip this one to avoid a laborious time.
