Starring: Sonakshi Sinha, Jassie Gill, Diana Penty, Ali Fazal, Jimmy Sheirgill
Directed By: Mudassar Aziz
2/5 stars

A comedy of errors which happens due to a mistaken identity, some hilarious one liners and the amusing amalgamation of the Indian, Chinese and the Pakistani humor is what pretty much sums up Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi. It all starts when the two ‘Happys’ played by both Sonakshi Sinha and Diana Penty respectively get exchanged to their respective destination and what follows is a series of some hilarious confusing events. The movie had the potential to become a quality comedy film but what really killed it was the poor screenplay and some vague editing.  Sonakshi Sinha who is the new entrant in this sequel of the franchise was entertaining and delivered a powerful performance but it was Jimmy Sheirgill who stole the show with his witty one liner and there was not a single scene in his presence where he didn’t fail to make the setting humorous with his slapstick and hilarious performance. Debutante Jassie Gill was impressive as the timid but good humored Khushwant.

Piyush Mishra was remarkable as the Pakistani police officer Usmaan Bhai but is performance looked a bit strenuous in some parts. Ali Fazal and Diana Penty also made a remarkable  comeback in their restrained but impressive stint in this sequel. The supporting cast which included Denzil Smith, Jason Tham and Aparshakti Khurana added to hilarious banter in the film. Director Mudassar Aziz has managed to combine some hilarious Punjabi humor in the Chinese backdrop which was inevitably entertaining to watch but the film could have been given a proper finesse and execution with a more improvised editing and a little opting out of some elaborate meaningless chase sequences.  None of the soundtrack which includes even recreation of the iconic ‘Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu’ manage to create a profound impact.

Even with the frequent loopholes Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi can be touted as a family entertainer with some witty gags and hilarious dialogues, not to forget some really engaging performance too. You can opt for this delightful comedy as a fun filled one time watch though.
