Kabir Singh Review: A Passionate Tale Of Love And Seperation Which Gets Tainted Due To The Weak Plot Line!
Starring: Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani
Directed By: Sandeep Vanga Reddy
2/5 Stars

Well, on the first appearance, Kabir Singh (Shahid Kapoor) may seem to be the guy who can be every woman's ideal man with the roguish charm and his raw appeal. But Kabir is a guy who will  literally exercise his right over his ladylove and become aggressive over even the slightest obstacle in their relationship. He does not hesitate to initiate his right as the topper of a reputed medical college. On the top of it is his uncontrollable anger issues and lack of self control. He justifies this nature of his by minting the words, 'I'm not a rebel without a cause.' His main guiding anchor in life becomes Preeti (Kiara Advani) whom he falls in love in the very first sight. But fate separates them which leads Kabir to follow the path of self destruction and thus, begins his spiralling down to alcholism, womanizing and drugs.

The only solace in the incomprehensible roguish character sketch of Kabir Singh is the realistic and passionate performance of Shahid Kapoor. You can see him living each phase of Kabir with an unfathomable intensity which will truly make you root for him. Its Shahid's larger than life performance which can make you sometimes emphasize with Kabir Singh whose actions can otherwise seem quite appalling. Kiara Advani on the other hand, shows the needed restrain and demure in her performance but does not get much room to shine. But it is Soham Majumdar who plays Kabir's friend Shiva who steals the show with the right amount of realism and passion in his performance. Some of the most meaningful scenes in the film revolves around his and Shahid's friendship in the film.

The film also fails in its pace with the dragged screenplay adding to the length of the film. The plot line becomes repetitive and the melodious soundtracks too fail to offer any help in this situation. Director and writer Sandeep Vanga Reddy who also directed the original Arjun Reddy fails to establish a profound base for the story and characters who do not own your emphaty. Kabir Singh falls flat despite the sincere efforts of Shahid Kapoor due to the lousy screenplay and direction. If you're a fan of the typical extremist romance or the roadside romeo charm, then this one's for you.
