Karan Johar Insisted To Cast Ananya Panday For Liger Confirms Puri Jagannadh
Puri Jagannadh's soon to release Liger starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday has successfully garnered the buzz ever since the release of its trailer. While Liger marks Deverakonda's big Bollywood debut, director Puri Jagannadh spill the beans on how they zeroed down on casting Ananya as the leading lady for the film.

During the press interactions in Mumbai, he stated; "When I decided to make Liger, a pan India film, we collaborated with Dharma Productions, and I showed the script to Karan Johar. He only suggested Ananya Panday to come on board." Ananya Panday will play the role of Tanya in the film. 

Puri Jagannadh was in all praises of Ananya Panday, he said; "Each time I see her, I see a different Ananya Panday. We have been shooting this movie for two years, the last time we shot a song. She was perfect."


Puri sir also revealed that he dreamed of casting Sridevi in Liger. He stated that he was a big fan of her work. Puri Jagannadh who has done prominent work in the Telugu film industry didn't get a chance to work with Sridevi. 


The stage is set for a blockbuster release. Puri Jagannadh will return to the Hindi language belt after 13 years. His last Hindi film was Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap which also starred Charmme  Kaur, the co-producer of Liger. The response to the Liger duo, Vijay and Ananya's promotional tour is garnering immense positive buzz.





Liger is set to hit the big screens on 25th August 2022. This Action/Sports drama has opted to release the film on Thursday keeping in mind the south business and the overseas business. Liger is shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages under the banner of Dharma Productions and Puri Connects. Liger also stars ace actress Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, and with an extended cameo from Mike Tyson.

Liger marks two Bollywood debuts, Vijay Deverakonda and Mike Tyson, and a stellar return to the big screen for Ananya Panday after 3 years.
