Seems like the Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari has connected to the masses right since its first day. Akshay plays Havildar Ishar Singh who leads the battalion of the 21 Sikh soldiers who fought bravely against the 10000 Afghans in the Battle Of Saragarhi. The film has opened up to a thunderous response at the box office. According to a source, ' Kesari has recorded the highest opening day of the year as it crosses the 20 crore nett mark. The collections can go to 21-22 crore nett also but that will depend on how the mass centers have played out as business on Holi is up and down with low collections in the morning and high in the evening.'
The holiday for Holi seems to have worked in the favor of the film. The film marks the second biggest opening for Akshay since his film Gold which released last year. This is truly a big win win situation for Akshay Kumar. 

Reportedly Kesari has also beaten films like Total Dhamaal and Gully Boy as the biggest opening till now. The film also stars Parineeti Chopra. She plays Akshay's love interest in the film.
