Manisha Koirala was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer in 2012 and underwent intense surgery and chemotherapy at New York’s Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, achieving recovery in 2013. During her recent UK visit, she met with cancer patients and staff at Ovacome, a London-based ovarian cancer charity, to learn more about their mission in supporting those affected by the disease.

Deeply moved by her interactions with Ovacome patients and the charity’s dedication, Manisha expressed a renewed commitment to raising awareness about cancer, focusing on critical issues such as healthcare inequalities in the UK and globally.

“I wanted to reach out to HRH The Princess of Wales to send my good wishes, particularly due to my own experiences. I am deeply heartened to receive such a warm response from her and wish her the very best of health," Manisha shared. "I want to use my voice to not only support cancer patients but also to raise awareness about the need for equitable healthcare access and the importance of knowing the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. Having faced cancer myself, I know how isolating and challenging the journey can be, and I believe it is essential that we all play a part in changing that reality for others."

Manisha’s engagement with Ovacome has reinforced her dedication to supporting the global fight against cancer. Beyond her work in the UK, she is also active with the Impact Foundation at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai and Cancer Care Nepal, furthering her advocacy for cancer awareness and healthcare access worldwide.
