Rajkummar Rao Turns Box Office King With The Success Of Stree!

The National award winning Rajkummar Rao, may have been celebrated by the critics for his nuanced and consistently great performances , however his recent film Stree which was a sleeper hit, changed the game for the star in more ways than one.
The unprecedented success of the horror comedy catapulted Rajkummar to the top league ,with box office collections registering a phenomenal 125 cr.
The industry heaved a sigh of relief with the success of the film as the third quarter saw a slump at the box office with big films failing to live up to expectations. Made on a humble budget ,Stree elbowed out the collections of other big ticket films like Sui Dhaaga: Made In India and Batti Gul Meter Chalu among others.
Box Office India reported that while the first quarter had 54 releases and collected approximately Rs 16.24 crore per film, the second quarter had 39 releases averaging Rs 22.66 cr per film. But the third quarter, which had 61 releases, threw up just an average of Rs 10.61 cr per film.
