Coming from one of the most celebrated families of Bollywood, Ranbir Kapoor has proved why he has successfully broken the shackles of nepotism and is not just another privileged star kid on the sphere with his versatile performances in his films over the years. He's had a bumpy ride to which he did not falter but only proved to emerge victorious time and again. Here's the top 5 performances of the actor which proves that he's certainly worth the hype. 

1- Ae Dil Hain Mushkil (2016)
His performance in this one fills you up with a myriad of emotions. The audience empathize with his characters one sided yearning for his love. The film depicted the tribulations of an unrequited love. Even though the film could not create wonders at the box office, it was Kapoor's passionate and intense performance which really tugged at our heartstrings. 

2- Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year (2009)
This till date remains the date one of the most underrated works of the actor. He was impressive and left a deep impact with his performance to say the least. The film saw Kapoor venture into an unmatched comic timing too but being flawless in the dramatic moments. He breathe life into this film in an effortless manner. 

3- Sanju (2018)
It is a mammoth task to fill in the shoes of a controversial figure for a biopic but Ranbir accomplished this tedious task without faltering. It is inevitable that except for Kapoor, nobody could've done justice to this role this brilliantly. From the mannerisms to the physical transformations, Kapoor excels every moment as Sanjay Dutt in the film. 

4- Rockstar (2011)
An actor like Ranbir Kapoor and a filmmaker like Imtiaz Ali, when they came together it was obvious to expect a volatile result. Kapoor carried the entire film on his shoulders as the forlorn musician. The film had the actor undergo a diversified range of emotions in the most heart wrenching manner. This film also established his mettle once and for all as an actor. 

5- Barfi (2012)
This remains one of the most difficult and challenging roles of the actor which he surpassed with flying colors. The reason I choose this film for the first position is that Kapoor's performance remains flawless, endearing, innocent and delightful till every end enhancing the beautiful message of the film. As a deaf and dumb character, the actor produces some mannerisms which invoke laughter and empathy at the same time, his performance matching to that of his costar Priyanka Chopra in the most applause worthy manner.
