Ranbir Kapoor On How Shooting For Shamshera Affected Him
Ranbir Kapoor is all set to be back on celluloid after four years since his last release, Sanju. Being an actor who has always given quality characters and content, Ranbir says, he wasn't quite prepared for what followed post signing his first period drama Shamshera.  In a recent media interaction, the actor expressed how shooting for Shamshera affected him.

As goes by the trailer of Shamshera, we know that the actor is stepping into the world of "Double Role" by playing father-son characters, Shamshera - Balli. Spilling the beans on how his shoot days looked like, Ranbir narrated; "It was daunting, it was such a hard part. There was a lot of action, and many scenes were shot under the scorching heat. If that wasn't enough already, I was having a director who was splashing all the ground dirt as much as possible to get the perfect aesthetic shots. Since, I was shooting for a double role, I had to wear the wig & beard for the part of Shamshera, donning thick khadi clothes. Honestly, I wasn't prepared for it when I signed the film. At the time of narration, it all sounded and felt like, "oh wow how amazing", but when the film went on-floors it literally was extremely daunting."

Further adding to the story, actor shared how he had abused (not literally) his director Karan Malhotra, and that there were times when he questioned himself on why is he even doing the film. Ranbir narrated; " There were times where I used to abuse my director (in my head of course) and used to talk to myself saying, what did I land myself into? I used to talk to myself in the mirror, because working on this film was genuinely emotionally & physically draining for me."

Ranbir added that even though the film was an immense draining experience for him, but eventually knowing that a film of this grandeur requires huge amount of dedication & hard-work and that he doesn't take it for granted. " The intention is to make a grand film, a larger than life spectacle, so large amount of hard-work is a must, it is impossible to make a film of such tone and genre without dedication and hard-work, one cannot take it for granted; and I understood that. Having said that, it is a fact that this film was very hard and challenging."

Shamshera, the high-octane, adrenaline-pumping entertainer is set in the 1800s in the heartland of India. It has the big promise of a never seen before Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Shamshera in the film! Sanjay Dutt plays Ranbir’s arch-enemy in this huge casting coup and his showdown with Ranbir will be something to watch out for as they will ferociously go after each other with no mercy.

Directed by Karan Malhotra, this action extravaganza also stars Vaani Kapoor and has been produced by Aditya Chopra. Shamshera will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on July 22, 2022.
