Rasika’s Look Inspired By Late Meena Kumari From Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam!

Actress Rasika Dugal after impressing the audience as Safia in her recent film Manto has upped her game to the next level for her forthcoming projects. Recently the trailer of her much awaited digital series by Amazon Prime was released and has been lauded by both the fraternity and the audiences. The show Mirzapur is a story based in a lawless land where the trade of arms, ammunition and drugs is a part of normal life and a family that dominates the town. Rasika will be seen playing the role of Beena Tripathi wife of ganglord Pankaj Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya in the series. As per the trailer, Rasika’s character Beena looks like a daring and desirable woman. The first look of Rasika has a great deal of resemblance to that of legendary actress Meena Kumari from the film Sahib Biwi Aur Gulam released in 1962. 

The film is a landmark in the history of Indian cinema and so are the characters from the film. Meena Kumari played the role of Choti Bahu in a Bengali family. Rasika’s look and styling was done keeping in mind the look of late actress Meena Kumari from Sahib Bibi Aur Gulam and was modernised to suit today’s time. Hope Rasika carries her character and the look from Mirzapur at par with Meena Kumari and gives us one more reason to remember the legend. 'Meena Kumari was a legend and choti bahu in Saheb Bibi aur ghulam is  one of my favourite performances in Indian cinema. She defined sultry in the most classy way. With Beena too, a lot more is happening than meets the eye though in a very different way. I’m happy with the way the look has turned out and excited for people to watch the series'
