Sridevi Bungalow Controversy: Priya Prakash Varrier Reveals That Sridevi Is Just The Name Of Her Character From The Film!

The teaser of the film Sridevi Bungalow was out recently which had a striking similarity at the life and untimely death of the legendary actress Sridevi. However, the teaser started receiving severe backlash from the netizens who labelled it as offensive and an outright mockery. The teaser had Priya lying in a bathtub which is quite similar to how the late actress Sridevi died at a Dubai hotel. Priya did not accept or deny the fact whether the film is based on the life of Sridevi. She left it to the audience to decide. Priya however clarified on the matter when the late actress Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor slapped the makers with a legal notice.

Priya revealed, 'Sridevi is just the name of my character in the movie. Who would want to create such controversies? I think the curiosity surrounding the trailer is good and we have to leave it to the audience to judge if the film is based on the veteran actress Sridevi ma'am.' The director of the film, Prashant also revealed, 'In the notice, Boney Kapoor has raised a few objections against our film including the usage of the name and doing a biopic of the actress. He wanted us to alter the name of our movie within 24 hours. We sent him a reply explaining that Sridevi was a common name and there was no logic in objecting to it. It is just coincidence that my movie tells the tale of an actress named Sridevi.'

When Boney Kapoor had sent a legal notice to the makers earlier, the director had said, 'We received a legal notice from Mr Boney Kapoor last week. And we will face it. My film is a suspense thriller. I told him that Sridevi is a common name. My film's character also happens to be an actress. We will face it.'
