Top Malaysian Dignitaries Attend ‘Mughal-e-Azam: The Musical’ Unveiling In Kuala Lumpur!
Ahead of its grand premiere in Kuala Lumpur, the makers of magnum opus musical ‘Mughal-e-Azam: The Musical’ held a press conference to unveil the idea behind staging the show in Kuala Lumpur.

The event for the historic play which has received immense critical acclaim and bagged numerous awards including the Broadway India Awards was attended by the Deputy High Commissioner of India in Malaysia, Mr Nikhilesh Giri, Head Director of Istana Budaya, Dato Mohamed Juhari Bin Shaarani, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Malaysia at a packed press conference in Kuala Lumpur. Also present were director Feroz Abbas Khan, Deepesh Salgia of the Shapoorji Pallonji group, lead actor Neha Sargam and choreographer Mayuri Upadhya.

MI Cultural Event Sdn Bhd (MICE) director Datuk Nabhesh Khanna, who has been instrumental in taking the musical to Kuala Lumpur says, "We have worked very hard to bring the prestigious play to Malaysia. We, along with Mr. Ravishankar of Shapoorji Pallonji in Malaysia, approached the Indian High Commission which in turn approached the Malaysian Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry to be part of the cultural exchange project. As such, it is now a government-to-government project.”

Director Feroz Abbas Khan added, ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ has a universal appeal which transcends barriers of language and culture. It is a story of love that seems to connect with audiences everywhere. We are delighted that the play is traveling to Malaysia as part of a cultural exchange between the two Govts. It encourages artistes to work harder when Govts support such work.”

Deepesh Salgia (Creative and Strategic Vision: Mughal-e-Azam) said, “We are grateful to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia and the Government of India for facilitating the show through a Cultural Exchange programme. After the grand success of our show in Dubai, we look forward to engaging with audiences in Malaysia.”

‘Mughal-e-Azam: The Musical’ with its live singing, intricately designed choreography, notworthy performances, world-class production design and elegantly styled Manish Malhotra costumes has created theatre history with each season. 

‘Mughal-e-Azam: The Musical’ will be staged at the Istana Budaya also known as the Palace of Culture in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 10th and 11th 2018.

The musical will run for about two hours and twenty minutes each night at Istana Budaya. The Musical is in Hindi but there will be two LED screens carrying Bahasa Malaysia and English subtitles.
