Zoya Akhtar Spills The Beans On The Challenges Of Exploring The Digital Space With Her Latest Web Series, 'Made In Heaven'!
Zoya Akhtar has been riding high on the success of her latest film Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The filmmaker has received several aacolades for her vision and execution in the film. Zoya is back again with her latest web series, the Amazon Prime's Made In Heaven which she has written and directed along with Nitya Mehra, Alankrita Shrivastava and Prashant Nair.

Recently at the press conference held for the series, the filmmaker got candid about the challenges of several people coming together for curating a web series. Zoya said, 'Whoever is on your creative side that is whether it is the writers, showrunners or producers on the team, their value system is the same, the politics is the same and what you want to put out there is also the same. I think when you have that, the big things are taken care of because there's nobody here who is going to stand up and say something different so those are the challenges. Once you have collaborators who look at things the same way as you do, it all gets much easy.'
Further on being quipped on the differences between the scenarios between a film and a web series, Zoya said, 'I'm a storyteller. I have certain ideas which would even fit into a short film and they can't be stretched. I have certain ideas which can make a feature and I have certain ideas which can need a long format. They are very different personal experiences. I go to a cinema which is a collective community experience where I'm in a dark room and there's a larger than life screen. But again I watch a lot of digital content and for me that's like a visual book. I go home, its my time, its personal to me and I open it and dip into it. Nothing can interchange those experiences.'
She further added saying, 'Stories lend itself. Made In Heaven would not make as good a film as it has been made into a web series. The kind of topics we touched on in the series and the time in which we developed the characters and the nuances that we can show along with the depth and layer of the society that we live in and deal into, this would not have been possible in a movie. So they're not interchangeable at all.'

The show stars Jim Sarbh, Kalki Koechlin, Arjun Mathur, Shobita Dhulipala and Shashank Arora in the lead roles. It will start streaming from March 8th, 2019 on Amazon Prime.
